Rough grading and leveling
Small Property Grading Services
Rough grading and minor leveling to prepare cleared ground for the next step of your project.
Clearing trees and brush is only part of preparing a piece of land. Once the vegetation is gone, the ground underneath is often uneven, rutted from equipment, scattered with low spots where stumps were ground and covered in leftover organic material. e Tree Service provides small property grading to smooth and shape that ground so it is ready for whatever comes next.
What Our Grading Work Includes
Grading after lot clearing. Most of our grading follows a land and lot clearing job. We level out ruts, fill and smooth stump holes and even out the surface so the area can be seeded, sodded or built on.
Property preparation. Rough grading can prepare an area for a lawn, a garden, a play space or a shed pad, or get a cleared lot ready for a builder or another contractor.
Rough grading and minor leveling. We shape the general contour of an area and knock down high spots and fill low ones on a small scale, working with the material on site.
Project preparation. When a project involves several steps, such as tree removal, stump grinding and then leveling, handling them together keeps the schedule simple and avoids the site sitting half-finished between contractors.
What Grading Is Not
Our grading service is intended for small properties and site preparation. We do not provide large-scale excavation, engineered grading plans, civil engineering or drainage design. If a project involves significant elevation changes, retaining walls, stormwater requirements or permitted site plans, it likely calls for an engineer or a specialized grading contractor, and we will tell you if that is the case.
About drainage. Minor leveling can change how water moves across a small area, and we pay attention to slope when we work. However, we do not guarantee drainage results. Persistent standing water, water moving toward a foundation or erosion problems may need a drainage professional.
Every Job Is Evaluated Individually
Grading needs vary widely depending on the size of the area, the existing slope, soil conditions, access for equipment and what the ground will be used for. We look at each site in person before recommending any work. If the job is a good fit for our scope, we will explain what we plan to do and give you a clear estimate. If it is not, we will say so.

Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of grading do you do?
We handle rough grading and minor leveling, usually after clearing, to prepare ground for the next step of a project. We do not provide engineered grading plans or drainage design, and we evaluate each job individually to confirm it fits our scope.
Will grading fix my drainage problem?
Minor leveling can improve how water moves across a small area, but we do not guarantee drainage results. Significant water problems may need a drainage contractor or engineer, and we will tell you if a job looks like it needs that kind of expertise.
